ABOUT THE ARTIST

Isobel Napier’s practice is influenced by the craftsmanship of textile traditions and blends precise digital design with elements of chance and incident. Her process contrasts the definitive control offered by digital modes of making, with natural materials and the heritage of crafts. Using laser cutting and 3D milling processes, Isobel combines modern technology with traditional techniques.

Napier received the The Michael Farrell Memorial Prize for Photography, The Slade School of Fine Art, London, 2018. She was selected for Common Thread, The New Art Centre (2020), an exhibition that brought together a group of artists each of who’s work reflects on the place of textiles both in art, and in contemporary society. Her work was shortlisted for the Brookfield Properties Craft Award 2025.
